SSMS Privacy Policy

Effective 1 August 2026.

Information SSMS handles

SSMS handles account identifiers, profile information, profile photos, mapping batches, GPS coordinates, field records, support and team messages, and cloud backup files when you use those features. GPS Logger pins and tracks are stored locally unless you explicitly back them up or publish them. If you ask to join an administrator-managed shared workspace, SSMS may also handle the information you provide for that request. When you create or move a pin, SSMS may send its precise coordinates to a geocoding provider to show a place label.

How information is used

Information is used to authenticate accounts, provide private mapping and synchronization, administer optional shared workspaces, create reports, restore backups, protect the service, and respond to support requests. SSMS does not sell personal information or use third-party advertising trackers.

Services and public sharing

SSMS uses Firebase for authentication, database, file storage, and hosting. Map features may use Apple Maps, Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, or Esri services. On the web, reverse geocoding uses OpenStreetMap Nominatim; on native devices, the operating system may provide geocoding. These services receive the coordinate needed for the request and normal connection metadata. A track is publicly readable only when you explicitly publish it through Open Map.

Retention and deletion

Cloud information is retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can request permanent deletion of your account and associated cloud data from Settings in SSMS; access is paused when requested and deletion is completed within 7 days.

Read the account-deletion instructions.
